AI is evolving fast, presenting significant opportunities and challenges worldwide. The speed of change demands investment, clear guidance and a shared understanding across our community – individuals and families, educators, researchers, businesses of all sizes, and the public sector.

Recognising the need for a local perspective, the Advisory Board for the AI Consortium (AIC, previously the Queensland AI Hub) sought to articulate the positive potential of AI for Queensland. The brief was to develop a holistic view of AI within Queensland’s context and provide actionable guidance to confidently navigate this evolving landscape.

We systematically gathered and analysed data to communicate trends, challenges, opportunities, and the strategic context for AI in Queensland. Our thorough research plan included: 

• Exploring ideas and experiences in a workshop with the Advisory Board.
• Interviewing AI industry and research experts to gather firsthand insights and perspectives.
• Conducting extensive research into domestic and global AI trends, analysing how AI is impacting various sectors and communities worldwide to inform a Queensland-specific view.
• Crafting a standalone executive summary and full detailed report that clearly communicates insights to provide guidance, identify key needs, enable stakeholders, foster optimism, and address concerns with AI development and implementation.
