With a large, distributed white collar workforce, this agency had bold ambitions to democratise insights and empower its people to move from data to doing.

Background

This organisation collects, creates, manages, shares and leverages large amounts of data, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This data is a critical asset to delivering its services, processes and technologies efficiently and effectively, achieving its purpose and supporting individuals, communities and businesses across Australia.

A key pillar of its insight ambition was to transform the workforce experience with data. The organisation sought to democratise data-driven decision making – every day with a new user-friendly business intelligence and analytics platform.

Our Approach

Our role was to:

  • Spark powerful belief in a data and insights future through meaningful events and experiences at key points on the journey from launch to everyday use of the platform
  • Craft and execute a fit-for-purpose persona-based change and experience program to fluidly meet the needs of its large, complex technology implementation
  • Activate meaningful, coordinated cut-through with communications, media, video and promotional materials to inform a large, geographically dispersed workforce
  • Through events, communities, champions, forums and learning platforms, empower staff with the skills and know-how to safely and confidently explore data and activate evidence-informed decisions
  • Design and deliver support processes and services for users and teams removing bottlenecks and streamlining the path to solutions
  • Conceptualise, socialise and technically test an innovative badging system to build trust and confidence in organisational data and insight assets
  • Design a hackathon to engage staff from all data walks of life to come together to create meaningful visualisations and insights.

Impact

Over 5 busy months a highly successful staged rollout occurred across this organisation, first to technical support staff, to developers and analysts and finally to all staff.
